Astarte’s designer, Jennifer Davis, is the passionate force behind the Astarte vision. In 1991, Astarte was created to offer sexy, glamorous clothing that was just not available at that time. She always believed in the old cliche, “If you can’t hide it, paint it red!” and the early days of Astarte designs were colorful tributes to that thought.
Over the past 25+ years, Jennifer has focused primarily on creating amazing shape for the “rich in body” woman, something that many manufacturers forego in efforts to just size up a standard design.
At Astarte, your body shape and height are critical components not just in choosing the perfect design to enhance your shape, but to create a piece that fits you perfectly. There’s no such thing at Astarte as too short, too tall, or too large. Astarte is a size-free zone — we design for all sizes, no limitations!
But shape is what turns a man’s head, what makes a woman admire her own reflection, and what sets Astarte apart from the rest.
Despite having no formal design training, but with hard-won experience fitting plus-size women of all shapes and sizes for more than twenty years, Jennifer engineers every design to fit her personal philosophy of excellence:
- Shape and signature fit: clothing must skim the body for a smooth silhouette, both entering and exiting a room
- Color and sensuality: Jennifer personally chooses fabrics that are lush, colorful, elegant, and perfectly suited to her curve-celebrating, entrance-making designs
- Comfort and easy care: these are the clothes you’ll want to reach for every day, so they have to be comfortable; being machine washable just adds to their “loveability”
From a beginning born of the frustration of not being able to find anything sexy and glamorous in her size, to the evolution of amazing solutions delivered in beautiful clothing (everything from bathing suits to ballgowns!), Jennifer continues to pour her heart, soul, and passion into creating designs that make every woman feel exactly how she deserves to feel: powerfully feminine.
